There are 2 different ponds at Memorial Park. They have been a major feature of the park since the park was introduced. People are allowed to feed the ducks, and skip rocks into the water. However, people aren't allowed to fish. Fishing causes multiple organisms to disappear or become less populated. This causes the food web to be disturbed, and changes in the trophic level. Ducks, and other sea animals allow enjoyment for families as they walk the trails.
When it rains, water runs into the ponds, and sometimes the water contains pollutants. The organisms in the pond, like fish, get the pollutants in their body. When organisms eat the organisms that have the pollutants in them, they automatically have it in their body. This continues as the organisms eat their prey. The pollutants follow through every organism thats prey had the pollutant already in them. This is called biomagnification. If there was fishing allowed, chemicals could be in the fish you caught, and if you ate that fish, the pollutant would be in your body...
